Up 12 ft onto ledge, next up through irregular roofy overhang at a thin crack. Up to finish in right-facing inside corner.

Two reachy crux sequences much harder than the rest (which also has some interesting moves). 

  Up about 25 ft through right-facing corner (crux). Next horizontal left about five feet onto face.   . . (variation: easier but less interesting is instead to continue straight up small gully/crack).   Up the face to a wide ledge below overhang. Finish up over the right corner of the overhang (second crux).

Up over the roof. Continue up a ways. Finish trending right to exit high right side of giant high alcove.5.10 Variation: Start a few feets to the right, go up the wall to a slightly overhanging thin hand crack. The route follows the crack system up and to the left and swings back to the right towards the end. There is a tree immediately at the top of the climb to set up an anchor, or you can use a massive tree 20 feet from the edge with a static line to set up a top rope. The crux is the overhead ledge at the top.There are 2 bushes along the route to steer around - added character (very 80s!) Still a bit dirty but would clean up nicely.Use directional if top roping to avoid swing.

Start the same as Harpoon Me - follow the crack up and to the right.  Instead of moving left along the flake at the midpoint, continue along the crack to the right

Follow the crack diagonally up to the right.  About halfway up, follow the flake to the left and then ascend to the top of the block (5.10 variation) or continue left a bit further to exit along the top of Whalehunter.

Begin left of the tree that is growing out of the detached block 15 feet right of Rebecca. Pull up the block on the left side and get established in the corner. Head up using both holds out on the face to the left and holds in the corner. Keep moving on good feet until the corner disappears and you reach jugs and a ledge. Head up "the slot" aka right facing corner and reach another huge ledge just below top.  

  You can either create a gear anchor on this ledge for a top rope climb or head up to the top and belay at trees. 5.8, PG/PG13

Some fun moves near the bottom, but not so much more. 

  Up through notch in roof, then trend a bit left.

For a 40 ft route, it's packs a punch.  Slightly overhanging, great movement leads to a sharp and technical crux with good gear below your feet.  Exciting! Gear is solid/adequate. Do not fall prior to placing said protection or you will hit the deck (ahhh).  

Up to a horizontal with little protection, move right at the bulge into a right facing corner. Move left before the roof and up to the top.

Start on jugs (beware all the spider's webs!) into a right leaning crack with a small tree growing out of it (great pro!). Head straight up.

Up right side of block, then whatever works best to finish somewhere near the top left of the left-diagonal descent gully.

Thoughtful face climbing. 

  Up the face, staying to the left of the vertical crack, to a ledge. Then up between the left-trending diagonal cracks and the left-trending arete, to finish at right (east) end of top edge of The Good Book cliff.

Steeper low part has high-friction rock, holds wide enough but could be more positive. Higher part is dirty, perhaps a bit loose. 

  Perhaps no single move is harder than 3rd class, but pretty sustained and thoughful and somewhat exposed. 

  Scramble up left to the platform at the top of Harpoon Me. To reach top of routes to right, then ramp up to right.

Lots of interesting moves. 

  Up 15 ft to base of diagonal ramp. Diagonal right up ramp 10 ft, then up 15 ft to wide ledge.   If Top-Roping, likely better to stop here and lower off. 

  Can get to top by walking RIght on ledge 10-12 ft then up gully/crack (interesting climbing, but rather vegetated and dirty as of 2017).   . . finish Variation: After walking right only about 6-8 ft, instead join the route Apathy Killed and finish up over right outside corner of overhand (5.10+).

Exciting climb. Look for the recess, the route starts on the right hand side. Start up the mossy corner up to the roof, crux may be moving into the roof. Follow the improbable traverse out of the roof that is pretty spectacular.

Fun moves on positive holds. 

  Straight up to the obvious R-facing corner and up that (crux is exit), up to shallow ledge. Angle up left to diagonal L-trending cracks -- up those =, then straight up to finish at right (east) end of top edge of The Good Book cliff.

Ascend directly up the center and continue straight up through the roof (crux).  Follow a small crack up most of the rest of the way, traverse slightly left and then reach the top.

Follow the diagonal crack up to the small roof.  Exit around to the left and then follow the arete up to the top.

Couple of awkward moves, then easier. 

  Up to the obvious right-facing corner and up on that, then trend left a bit to the top.

Follow the arete that forms on the far left side of the Good Book wall. There are a lot of trees/other foliage on the route.

Start on some stair-step holds running up and left.  Climb to a ledge, then up the face and into a right-facing corner,  onto a moss-covered ledge, then straight up to top out.

Start on the right side of a short face with a large pancake boulder on top, by a tree, just left of a very shallow, right-facing corner.  Move up to a horizontal crack, then top out on to a wide ledge, at the level of the starts of the other routes on this wall (Variation: skip this first part and start on the ledge.)  Follow the prominent, protruding column up and to the right.  Traverse right at the top of the column to avoid some shrubs, then up to another small ledge.  Go straight up to the top.

Intimidating thoughtful crux sequence, plus some other fun moves. 

  Start up the angular boulder under the left inside of the big alcove. Step Left off boulder around corner and across face to reach base of vertical crack. Straight up the crack to the top. 

  . . Variation ? Alternate route ? There is a report that a party climbed the overhanging arete above (and below?) the step-left-across move. Look forward to someone who knows about this achievement providing details in a comment below -- or posting a new description of a separate route.

Start by following the obvious thin crack between Krassy and My Climb is Ishmael. At the middle of the wall, move to the left slightly and ascend the face using fun wide dihedral moves. 

  Note: The rocks are somewhat dusty as of 3/31/2018. A couple holds seem fragile and may potentially break off.

The Good Book sector is one of the taller walls at Powerlinez with great rock, great moves. It has the only sport-climbing routes at Powerlinez. 

  Faces mainly SSW, so warm on winter afternoons, cool on summer mornings. Good drainage below, so typically less insects than certain other sectors. 

top-roping: A long static line is needed to set up a top-rope on many of the routes, because the trees above the top of the wall are set back a ways from the top edge of the cliff. 

  One way to reach the top of the wall (especially the left half) to climb the Top-Bottom Access route, a bit left from the big alcove / cave /chimney at left center of this sector (4th class or 3rd class). Another (longer) way is to go to the Top Shelf sector and continue up right. Trying to scramble up around the right end likely requires first hiking way out around right - (see the instructions for sector Fairy Tales). 

bolts: The bolts and hangers which are on five routes in The Good Book sector are composed of zinc-plated steel (sometimes known as "galvanized" steel) and were installed around 2010. They have not been approved (or disapproved) by the Torne Valley Climbers Coalition, and are not inspected or maintained by the TVCC or by Harriman State Park. There is concern that Powerlinez might be in high-corrosion region for steel: with acid rain from the west, and salt water 40 miles to south and east. Zinc-plated steel provides better corrosion-resistance than "plain carbon" steel, but there are other materials which are used nowadays for outdoor sport climbing which have much better corrosion-resistance. Each of those five routes could also be climbed by Top-Roping with the protection of a traditional anchor from above the cliff (such as a static line from a large tree). Whether to trust, or how to use, those bolts is a decision which each climbing party is responsible to make for themselves. 

  These bolts are a holdover from before when the area was legally opened in 2013. No new bolting is permitted (more info on the Powerlinez main area page and its Comments).
