The Caesarian West Face sits at the southeast end of the Birthday Rocks formation.  It is a tricky climb split into three sections.  The lower section is climbed using the obvious horizontal crack.  Move through the center section past the overhang using small face holds.  Pull a hard mantle on the ledge to begin the last section.  Climb the last section using the fingertip crack to the top.

Birthday Chimney sits in the corner between Birthday Crack (route 9) and Caesarian West Face (route 11).  The route isn't really climbed as an offwidth chimney.  Climb this route using face holds and ledges on the wall to your left and the tower to your right.  Step up on ledges with your feet, using an occasional stem between the face and the tower.  For novice leaders there are plenty of nice resting spots, making this a good route to try out the sharp end.

The Birthday Crack is one of the better-known climbs at the Lake.  It is a fun and challenging climb with a pretty sustained crack.  Start out to the left of the Birthday Chimney (route 10) below the junction of a vertical and horizontal crack.  Climb up the vertical crack into the pocket at the junction of the two cracks.  Don't get yourself too far back into this pocket or you'll get stuck.  Reach high (real high) with both hands and pull up on a juggy hold to get above the pocket.  The top half of the climb is slightly easier with a nice sustained 20-foot crack to the top.

There are a couple of ways to climb this, but the climbing is easier to the right. It's unnamed in the Swartling and Knower guidebooks, but was given a name for the online database.

The Left Twin follows the shallow inside corner up to the small overhang.  Once at the overhang either climb to the right and finish in the nook shared by The Right Twin, or climb the obvious outside corner to the left using ledges and cracks.

The Great White Hope can be found between the Birthday Crack (route 9) and the Right Twin (route 10).  Climb up to the large horizontal crack using small ledges.  Above the horizontal crack the climbing gets very thin.  Use delicate moves on small face features to ascend to the top.

This is the right dihedral on the SW (lake) side of the Caesarian tower. 

 Start by climbing up to large ledge. Facing the tower, you'll see 2 obvious dihedrals. The left one is Caesarian Tower and the right one is Special Delivery.

 Combine this climb with Birthday Boulder for some interesting variations.

The route Caesarian Tower follows the western of the two southwest-facing dihedrals of the Caesarian Tower.  Start the route at about the same place as the route Caesarian West Face.  Climb up onto the large block to the right, then make your way up to the right of the sharp corner.  Finish the climb by ascending the slightly overhanging corner and crack.

Flying Delorean is a fairly continuous crack system on a pinnacle shaped feature just north of Birthday Crack. The pinnacle alone is easily identifiable but the crack system that runs up the pinnacles right side cannot be missed. Start on dirty ledge at base of wall, climb crack on right side of wall all the way to a comfy ledge. Finish as per "Flux Capacitor Crack" by straddling and slapping both aretes for an airy, exciting finish.

Horner's climbs the tall and distinct arete above the 10 ft crack. Climbing is mostly on ledges and crimps, with a couple of balancy mantle moves near the top.

The Right Twin climbs up a left-trending inside corner.  Use ledges and cracks to ascend up to a slight overhang.  Climb through the overhang and into a nook to the top of the climb.

The route starts 5' to the right of the ledge Flying Delorean. That is not on the ledge but 5' to the right of it. The bottom section has some nice blockly hand and foot holds that go straight up. Midway up there is a ledge. At the ledge move back toward unknown route. There is a narrow  squeeze. You have a choice to go in the squeeze or above it. The crux is a small overhang just past the squeeze. The crux holds are good. The last 10 feet is class four.

Chester's Chimney is an offwidth chimney about 25 ft tall near the northwest (lower) end of the Birthday Rocks formation.  It isn't listed in Swartlig's book, but it is a decent climb for practicing offwidth (not much of this at Devil's Lake).  To climb, scrape your way up by any means possible.  To make it a true offwidth you should avoid using any holds on the face.

A variation on Great White Hope. 

  In the middle of the route, stick to the seam instead of wandering right to the big ledges.

"Double the pleasure!" 

  Up the face between the Twins, to a vertical crack that begins above the horizontal seam.

The Birthday Boulder is a 20 foot high slabby rock with a few horizontal cracks.  It is located on the south side of the Caesarian Tower.  The boulder offers a range of difficulties depending on how you climb it.  You can link the Birthday Boulder up with the two routes above it (Caesarian Tower or Special Delivery) for a nice 50 foot climb.  Special Delivery is a little overgrown.  The tree on the right could use a haircut.

Independent line between "Birthday Crack" and "Birthday Chimney"...  do not touch either.  Crux is right off the bat and is steep and a bit tricky to gain small ledge. Climbs cool edges, side pulls, and intermediate cracks.  This is a legit seperate line, is not listed in any guide, and I have always thought it should be.

A fun balanced hard route with good pro all the way.

This route is nice easy climb with a number of ledges where the climber can rest. The route is in the inside corner to the right of Flying Delorean. The route starts on the same ledge as Flying Delorean. Stay in the corner through the route. The top 10 feet is class four.

This route is next to #2 (Flying Delorean) in Climber's Guide to Devil's Lake at Birthday Rocks by Sven. Climb up either the smooth face or lieback crack at the left detached flake. Gain good horizontal ledges for a few balancy moves. From here move up to a solid horizontal crack and on to pinnacle feature using both aretes like a big bear hug. The name comes from a feature in the face that looks like the Flux Capacitor- it will make you charge up the aretes with 1.21 Jigawatts of power.

Climb cracks near corner to a short dihedral. Climb the dihedral and finish on the left side of the same summit block as Bowing to the Undercling.

 This is listed in both the Swartling/Mayer and Knower books.

The Birthday Rocks area contains many fine climbs, starting about 50 feet up from the railroad tracks directly above the electric fence.  The northwest end of the wall contains shorter climbs, while the southeast end terminates at a tall tower.  Birthday Crack (5.7) is the classic climb of this formation, and there are a half-dozen or so other moderate climbs to keep you busy.  The Birthday Rocks are also home to two long and difficult climbs, the Great White Hope (5.11a) and the Caesarian West Face (5.12b).
