. Climb the slab via unique black knobs in tan rock, with the crux after the second bolt consisting of incredible friction between the knobs. On the day of the FA the high temp was around 43 degrees, which made for some incredible smearing opportunities. Do it on a cold day!

Climb the face to a horizontal then continue up the bucketed face above.

This unusual route climbs a steep improbable face that despite appearances goes at an easier rating that appearances might suggest. The first part of the climb is steeper on black intrusions and smears and is well protected. Higher the angle lessens and the climbing is more smearing past bolts set farther apart.

What makes this route unique is the start - the crux is a run and jump past the first bolt to a knob! Typically the start is done two ways - clip and go taking care not to slam back to the starting ledge. or clip the first bolt, aid up on it to the second bolt, clip it then lower down with the crux pre-protected.

A fun route that takes a nice direct line up an impressive face. With better rock it might be more of a classic but it's enjoyable as is. Don't confuse this route with a newer one to the right -

Friction Impossible

This well-protected face climb ascends the short brown patina face located on the far left shoulder of the King Dome's east face. The first 3 bolts are spaced about 4' apart, and the crux is between the second and third bolts. A fourth bolt, located up and right, protects the upper, easier section. There are no fixed anchors for this route, so bring gear to 2 inches for the anchor.

Descent: downclimb to climber's left.

Named for a popular mexican food restaurant in the town of Joshua Tree which closed in 2005.

A start in a chossy, left-facing corner (gear to 2 inches) leads up right to a low-angled ramp and a high first bolt. Climb past the bolt and continue up and left past two more bolts on near vertical patina edges/friction to a final bolt where the angle lessens, the climbing gets easier but you'll go about 15 feet to the bolted anchor/rap on top.

A good climb at a less popular area than many of the Hall of Horror routes makes this worth the walk. Two stars out of five.

The majority of climbs on King Dome are on the east face, which is the one visible on the approach from Hall Of Horrors. This climb lies in the center of the east face on a small block situated just in front of the main wall.

Scramble up easy face to reach a hand crack over a small roof and continue up the crack above to finish; Short and sweet.

A fun little route that is easily led or bouldered depending on one's inclination.

This climb is in between Arturo's Special (5.8) and Mission Impossible (5.11b). It's good 'ol dome home Josh friction bumps, gets sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon, was recently bolted by unknown suspects and is a great lead.

Climb a crack as it curves up and left and then move right into another crack with a small bush in it.  As the crack peters out face climb up and left to the top.

Flaring offwidth crack/chimney. If you're into that kind of thing, you might like this.

This is a large plated chimney with some fun moves for the grade.
